Frequently Asked Questions: Vancouver's Plush Perfection's FAQ's About Permanent Makeup

DOES EYEBROW MICROBLADING AND PERMANENT MAKEUP HURT?

It's important to know that everyone's pain tolerance is slightly different. But in general, the pain level is mild. It should feel like your brows are being tweezed or waxed!

IS NUMBING USED DURING AN EYEBROW MICROBLADING APPOINTMENT?

Absolutely, I use a strong numbing agent with lidocaine and epinephrine to ensure your procedure is comfortable and almost painless. This way, you can relax and know that you're in good hands.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR AN EYEBROW OR LIP PERMANENT MAKEUP APPOINTMENT

The best way to prepare for your appointment whether it's for your brows or lips, is to avoid consuming alcohol and caffeine 24 hours prior. This includes decaf, tea, energy drinks, and exercise supplements. You should also avoid taking ibuprofen tablets 24 hours prior (Advil, Niacin, Aspirin, Robaxacet). Additionally, stop taking fish oils 3 days prior to your appointment. It's also helpful for your skin to be in good health on the procedure area itself and sun exposure-free 1 week prior to your appointment.

Caffeine, alcohol and ibuprofen can cause blood to thin, which increases bleeding and discomfort. Following these instructions will ensure that you have the best eyebrow microblading experience possible.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING AN EYEBROW OR LIP PERMANENT MAKEUP APPOINTMENT?

I'll start with a consultation. This is where we discuss shape, size, colour and go over any questions you might have before I start to create the mapping shape. Once completed, i'll have you take a look and make any adjustments if needed before moving on to the procedure!

During a permanent makeup procedure the i'll apply numbing and use a sterile, single-use microblade or a digital machine to deposit the colour. After, the pigment is applied and a brush is used to massage into the area, wipe and repeat until process till completed! The first few minutes you might be able to feel a tiny bit of discomfort but as the numbing absorbs into your skin it's basically painless!

HOW LONG DOES A EYEBROW OR LIP BLUSH PERMANENT MAKEUP APPOINTMENT TAKE?

When it comes to beauty, there is no one-size-fits-all. Each technique requires a different duration and is based on skin type, the amount of hair and size all needs to be taken into consideration. The average time frame for brows is 1.5 - 2 hours and lip blush is 2-2.5 hours long. This includes consultation, mapping and the procedure itself.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER AN EYEBROW OR LIP BLUSHING APPOINTMENT?

After your eyebrow or lip blush appointment you can expect the following:

  • The area will be darker, fuller, larger and will fade 20-50%.
  • You will follow the aftercare and ointment instructions indicated at your appointment.
  • The area take some time to heal. Lips heal a lot quicker around 3-4 days and eyebrows are typically 5-10 days.
  • The area will produce a scab, harden and flake off once healed.
  • The area may appear light after the flaking stage is complete.
  • The pigment resurfaces in 6-8 weeks where the final colour is seen.
  • You will need to keep them clean, dry and away from water and sweat.

IS A EYEBROW OR LIP TOUCH UP APPOINTMENT REQUIRED?

Yes, a touchup is to be scheduled in 6-8 weeks from the initial appointment as it is a two step process. This reinforces the pigment, corrects imperfections or adjustments that was loss during healing.

DOES EYEBROW PERMANENT MAKEUP OR LIP BLUSH HARM THE SKIN?

The procedure is fairly simple and straight forward, and as long as it's done properly by an experienced artist like myself, you will not have to worry about any scarring or other side effects.
